What We Do
It’s our mission to help people in Nepal and reduce poverty through a vast number of essential campaigns.
Education
Volunteer Service in Nepal (VSN) is dedicated to providing quality education for underprivileged children, helping them build a strong foundation for a brighter future. Our programs emphasize basic literacy, vocational training, and life-skills development—essential tools for breaking the cycle of poverty. To enhance learning, VSN uses a peer-volunteer support system, where trained volunteers work closely with children to boost their academic performance, confidence, and practical skills. This approach ensures that each child receives personalized guidance in a positive learning environment. For children facing financial challenges, VSN also provides educational materials, uniforms, and school supplies, helping remove barriers to education and keeping them engaged in school. Through education, skills development, and compassionate support, VSN empowers underserved children with the knowledge and opportunities they need to thrive.
Health care
Volunteer Service in Nepal (VSN) is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of underprivileged rural communities across the country. Many families living in remote areas have limited access to essential health services, which often leads to preventable illnesses and long-term health challenges. To address these gaps, VSN organizes community-based health camps that bring vital medical support directly to the people who need it most. VSN works closely with local health professionals, volunteers, and community leaders to ensure that each health camp has a meaningful and sustainable impact. By bringing accessible health services directly to rural areas, VSN is helping create healthier communities and a brighter future for children and families across Nepal.
Shelter and basic needs
Psychosocial support
Volunteer Service in Nepal (VSN) is dedicated to improving the wellbeing of children and the wider community. While working closely with children, VSN recognized the need for proper counseling and emotional support, especially for those recovering from trauma.
After the 2015 earthquake, VSN organized psychosocial training for students, teachers, and community members to help them cope with stress, fear, and emotional challenges. Through these programs, more than 5,500 people received guidance, support, and practical tools to rebuild their confidence and resilience.
VSN continues to prioritize mental health awareness, healing, and community strength as an essential part of its mission.Family reunification
Volunteer Service in Nepal (VSN) has a strong history of transforming the lives of vulnerable and at-risk children. Since its establishment, VSN began its journey by working directly with street children, providing them with safety, care, and hope.
After completing their rehabilitation and gaining practical skills, these children were successfully reunified with their families, ensuring long-term stability and community reintegration. This approach focuses not only on rescuing children but also on rebuilding family connections and empowering them for a better future.
Today, several children fully supported by VSN have progressed to promising professional paths.
Through compassion, guidance, and opportunity, VSN continues to help children transform their lives and unlock their full potential..Child protection
Volunteer Service in Nepal (VSN) was founded with a clear vision—to support vulnerable children in need. While working in the community, VSN quickly realized that many children lacked safe shelter, inspiring the establishment of a dedicated rehabilitation home.
From its early work with street children to the operation of its rehabilitation home until 2018, VSN provided more than 70 children with safe housing, education, life-skills training, and emotional support. These efforts helped children rebuild their lives and prepare for a stable future.
Today, the impact is visible in the achievements of those who grew up under VSN’s care. Seven are pursuing careers in the medical field, five are studying engineering, and many others are engaged in various professional sectors. Their success reflects VSN’s long-standing commitment to empowering children and transforming lives.About Us
